Photographic observation of light and shadow together with grids and meshes provides much of the inspiration for my textile design practice and has led me to use natural yarns combined with clear monofilament resulting in cloth with an open yet translucent quality. Not only does the resulting textile create its own shadow patterns but it also allows tantalising glimpses of what might lie beyond the hanging fabric.

Such textile pieces are ideal:

stretched in a frame as window screens or shutters

trapped between acrylic, perspex or glass to filter light

as free standing room dividers; practical pieces with a hint of the architectural

or simply as hand-crafted textile pieces in their own right
